From Sim Wheel to Real Wheels — VRX RACING Brings Wheel-to-Wheel RC Driving to the 2026 CVS Finals Carnival

From August 28 to 30, the 2026 China Virtual Sports Open (CVS) Finals were held at Shaoquan Sports Center in Hefei, Anhui. As the country's first national-level comprehensive virtual sports event, it gathered more than 300 finalists from roughly 8,000 online qualifiers, while the accompanying China Virtual Sports City Carnival drew nearly 10,000 visitors.

RIVERHOBBY TECH (SHENZHEN) CO., LTD., under its in-house brand VRX RACING, debuted its Wheel-to-Wheel RC Driving experience at the carnival — a system that turns a professional sim racing wheel into the controller of a real RC car. Visitors sat at the rig, gripped the wheel, and watched a live first-person view streamed from a camera onboard a 1/10-scale brushless 4WD buggy. A push on the throttle, a turn of the wheel, and the car accelerated, steered and drifted in sync — a driving feel that sits close to the real thing, minus the learning curve of a traditional pistol-grip transmitter.

The name itself carries a double meaning. In motorsport, "wheel-to-wheel" describes cars racing side by side — the closest, most visceral form of competition. Here, it also describes the signal path: from the sim wheel in the driver's hands, straight to the wheels of the RC car on the track.

At the heart of the system is a piece of hardware VRX RACING developed in-house — the Black Box signal-conversion module. It translates the USB signal from the sim wheel and pedals into standard RC protocol in near real time, with full 10-channel mapping: the wheel's rotation and the pedals' travel become steering and throttle commands on the vehicle's receiver directly, no PC required at the track. Direction (phase), center-point, travel (EPA) and steering angle can all be fine-tuned on the module's own OLED screen, and it ships pre-tuned from the factory for plug-and-play operation. The module works with mainstream wheels (e.g., MOZA direct-drive bases), supports one-touch switching between steering-wheel and pistol-grip modes, and keeps the signal path clean and near-zero-latency — the core reason the driving feel is so direct.

Around the Black Box, the full experience is tuned for immersion. Steering angle is adjustable from 180° to 900° to suit everyone from first-time visitors to seasoned sim racers; paddle shifters on the wheel control forward and reverse; and the onboard Walksnail HD digital FPV link (up to 1080p, with DVR recording) delivers a real-time cockpit view with roughly 22 ms end-to-end latency. The package is built around a VRX RACING 1/10 brushless 4WD buggy (RH1068) with a DUMBORC 10-channel gyro receiver — a turnkey solution for venues from race tracks to in-mall experience zones.

The experience zone drew notable attention during the event. Olympic diving champion Wang Zongyuan — two-time Olympic gold medalist in the men's synchronized 3m springboard (Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024) — visited the carnival on the afternoon of August 28 and, after trying virtual cycling and virtual racing, stopped by the VRX RACING booth to test the Wheel-to-Wheel RC Driving system, as reported by local media. Several Hefei media outlets interviewed the booth on the technology and its commercial applications, and CCTV-5 (China Sports Channel) also featured the RC experience zone in its event coverage.
